A prayer for a Dear Friend with cancer

Posted by Pay it Forward Ministries

We recieve alot of prayer requests from the families and friends of sick people asking us to pray, and we always do. Often though as calls come in through the Church prayer line (309)867-6767 or by email payit4wrdministry@yahoo.com they are from from people who themselves are suffering and need prayer and encouragement. The following is my prayer for Daren, a Dear friend. He may be a stranger to some of you but he is no stranger to God and like so many others he needs your prayers as he fights cancer...

Dear Daren,

I am praying for you, and I thought if I told you what I was praying you could add it to your prayers.. so that even if you are to weak to pray for yourself, you would know that I am among the many people who will not stop praying for you to get well and become whole again.

I pray that God guides the hands of your doctors. I pray for both spiritul and physical healing for you. I pray that your doctors might find a cure for your cancer. I pray also, Dear friend, that you might have the courage to continue to fight this terrible disease. Hope, let that be your strength when the surgeries and medicine leave you weak.

Daren, I pray that you use your fear rather that submit to it. Those who tell you not to fear have the best intentions but being afraid is part of the battle. I pray you find a way to turn your fear into fuel for the fight. You are not a victim, you did nothing wrong and you are not condemned. You are deeply loved, and you can fight this thing with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

And finially Daren I pray you smell the scent of water and feel the sand between your toes. Job (14:7) wrote about the hope he saw even in a felled tree. "If its roots are deep in the earth, at the first scent of water it will send forth new green shoots and grow again" I pray that you will be like that tree Daren. I pray that despite your prognosis, you will walk again soon on the beach with nothing on your mind except the colors of the water and the feeling of the wind on your face and the sand between your toes. Daren you can do this. You can beat this. You can find strength of spirit and courage to fight this disease within you.

The secret of the battle you are fighting is to know the feeling of being rooted in the love of family and friends and a Daddy God that loves you unconditionally. I am praying for you Daren and am believing that beyond the smell of antiseptic and crappy hospital food that you might catch a scent of water. No matter what tomorrow might bring, I pray that today your new leaves will begin to sprout.
